Enter the value of any two parameters in the fields of this universal Centimeters to Pixels Converter and calculate the third parameter. Thus, you can also convert pixels to centimeters and calculate dpi when given pixels and centimeters values.
Convert centimeters to pixels
The following abbreviations are used in this converter: cm – centimeters, px – pixels, dpi – dots per inch (pixel density). Sometimes another abbreviation is used instead of dpi: ppi – pixels per inch. These abbreviations are interchangeable, but ppi is usually considered as a measure of the resolution or quality of image, while dpi is mainly used as just a measurement in output device (a printer, for example). Anyway, it’s safe to assume that 1 px = 1 dot.
It is appropriate to note that the default resolution in web applications (writing css, for example) equals to 96 ppi.
The following obvious formula is used for calculation of centimeters to pixels or pixels to centimeters conversion:
Example 1: Convert 5 cm to px at 300 dpi
First enter 5 in the “cm” field and 300 in the “dpi” field of the converter. Then click on the “Calculate” button. The result (590.55) will automatically appear in the “px” field.
Example 2: Convert 650 px to cm at 96 dpi
First enter 96 in the “dpi” field and 650 in the “px” field of the converter. Then click on the “Calculate” button. The result (17.2) will automatically appear in the “cm” field.
