Text Compare Tool

This online Text Compare Tool is used to find all differences between two texts. Enter two text fragments to be compared in the appropriate fields of this tool and press the ‘Compare’ button. Those words in each of the fragments that are changed (or absent) in the other fragment are highlighted. Comparisons are made at the word level, so punctuation marks adjacent to a word are highlighted with that word. Blank lines between paragraphs are removed.

Text comparison

Text comparison is important because it reveals similarities and differences between two pieces of text. This can be useful in solving various problems, including:

Text modification check. Text comparison tools can help you quickly identify any differences between two versions of a text, highlighting the specific changes that you have made. This can be especially useful when working with large documents or when making multiple changes to a piece of text, as it can help you catch any mistakes or omissions that you or other team members might have made.

Plagiarism detection. Text comparison can be used to detect cases of plagiarism, where one person has copied all or part of the work of another without proper attribution.

Legal analysis. Text comparison can be used to identify differences between different versions of legal documents, such as contracts or laws.

Software debugging. Text comparison tools can be a useful aid for software debugging. When debugging a software program, it can be helpful to compare different versions of the code to identify changes that might have caused an error or bug.

Our Text Compare Tool can be used to solve any of the above and many other tasks.

What is our diff tool

The diff algorithm used in this online tool is based on the method for isolating the differences between two text strings proposed by P. Heckel. The algorithm isolates differences in a way that corresponds closely to a human intuitive notion of difference. The method is computationally efficient, and the time depends linearly on the length of the text.
