Mass to Mole Calculator

This all-in-one online Mass to Mole Calculator performs calculations using the formula linking the mass of a substance, its molar mass and the molar content of the substance. You can enter the values of any two known parameters in the input fields of this calculator and find the missing parameter.

How to Convert Mass to Mole

In chemistry, the molar mass of a chemical compound is defined as the mass of 1 mole (or 6.02214×1023 particles) of the substance, expressed in grams.

The mole (the unit of measurement for amount of substance) is defined in such a way that the molar mass of a compound, in g/mol, is numerically equal to the average mass of one molecule, in daltons. Thus, for example, the average mass of a molecule of water is about 18.0153 daltons, and the molar mass of water is about 18.0153 g/mol.

There is a simple relationship between these quantities:

$$m_s = M_s × N_s,$$

where
\(m_s\) is the mass of the substance in grams,
\(N_s\) is the quantity of the substance in moles,
\(M_s\) is the molar mass of the substance in grams/mole.

All the calculations can be easily performed with the help of our online calculator. This versatile tool is not only grams to mole calculator but it can be used also as a mole mass calculator.
