This all-in-one online Cylinder Volume Calculator performs calculations using the volume formula for a circular cylinder, which relates the cylinder volume to the height of the cylinder and the radius of its base. Enter the values of any two known parameters in the fields of this online calculator and find the missing one.
Circular Cylinder Volume Formula
You can use this cylinder volume calculator for a cylinder assuming it’s a circular cylinder. Generally, cylinders are assumed to be circular, which means that the base is a circle. The height of a cylinder is the perpendicular distance between its bases. If the elements of the cylinder are perpendicular to the planes containing the bases, the cylinder is a right cylinder.
For a circular cylinder the formula for the volume \(V\) is as follows:
$${\displaystyle V=\pi r^{2}h}$$
where \(h\) is the height of the cylinder, \(r\) is the radius of its base. This formula holds whether or not the cylinder is a right cylinder. So this online volume of a cylinder calculator can be used in the case of any oblique cylinder as well.
Note that we do not specify units of measurement in our calculator. We assume that the radius and height are measured in the same units of length, and the volume is measured in cubic units of length (e.g., m and m3).
