This all-in-one online Mass Percent Calculator performs calculations using the formula that relates the mass percent of solute in a solution to the mass of the solute and the mass of the solvent. You can enter the values of any two known parameters in the input fields of this calculator and find the missing parameter.
Mass Percent Formula
Mass percent is defined as the ratio of the mass of the solute to the mass of the solution converted into percentage by multiplying the obtained ratio by 100%. The mathematical formula for the mass percent is:\(\)
$$\text{mass percent} = \frac{\text{mass of solute}}{\text{mass of solution}} \times 100\%,$$
$$\text{mass of solution} = {\text{mass of solute}} + {\text{mass of solvent}}.$$
With our Mass Percent Calculator you can easily find any parameter, provided that the values of the other two parameters are known.
For example, suppose you need to prepare a 5.00% aqueous solution of sodium chloride using 6.5 grams of NaCl. You need to find the mass of water in which to dissolve the salt. You simply enter the above numerical values into the corresponding fields of the calculator and instantly get the result 123.5 grams of water.
